OSSA Course Conversion
Ready to Work Safely
Energy Safety Canada launched standardized courses to replace former Oil Sands Safety Association (OSSA) courses.
All ESC courses — including those transitioned from OSSA — are developed in collaboration with industry and subject matter experts. This ensures ESC’s training is:
- Comprehensive, relevant and up to date.
- Widely recognized as the industry standard.
- Accepted at all oil and gas work sites across Canada.
ESC’s rigorous standards and quality assurance initiatives ensure workers get the right training, receive quality instruction, and have an industry recognized certificate to get on site.
Courses
Mobile Elevating Work Platforms
Available since November 30, 2020
This course will replace all currently approved OSSA Elevated Work Platform courses.
Delivery Method/Duration: Classroom/1-day
Availability: ESC Mobile Elevating Work Platforms
Certification: 3-years
Prerequisite: Valid ESC or OSSA Fall Protection certificate
OSSA equivalent course no longer offered
Fall Protection
Available since September 3, 2019
This course replaces all OSSA approved Fall Protection Courses.

Confined Space Entry and Monitor | Online
Available since November 28, 2019
This course replaces all OSSA approved Confined Space Entry and Monitor Courses.

Validating Energy Safety Canada Certificates
ESC certificates represent a high standard for training quality. To ensure workers have authentic ESC certification, employers are encouraged to verify training certificates using the online validation tool.
