Process Safety Metrics and Event Reporting Guide

This guideline provides information and instructions to classify and report process safety events (PSEs) at a corporate level and within the secure members-only Energy Safety Canada (ESC) Data Gateway.
The scope of this guideline includes Tier 1 and 2 process safety events (PSEs) in the upstream and midstream oil and natural gas industry involving a loss of primary containment (LOPC) during offshore and onshore operations such as well drilling and completions, production and pipeline operations, bitumen extraction and upgrading including in situ, and related oil and gas transportation activities.

Companies are encouraged to submit their process safety data to our Data Gateway. Find out more about the Data Gateway.
