Common Safety Orientation (CSO)


This course provides workers new to the energy industry with foundational health and safety concepts to support safe work performance. Participants will learn about safe work practices, emergency preparedness and response procedures, reporting incidents and near misses, apply the 10 Life Saving Rules, and identify and address workplace hazards.

CSO is available online or in the classroom. The online version is available for access on any computer that has a webcam.

Upon Completion

Students must pass a proctored exam with a minimum grade of 80%. Upon successful completion of the course, they will be provided with a Certificate of Completion that does not expire.

Online Course Requirements

  • A supported operating system for Windows or Apple
  • Stable internet connection with a supported web browser
  • Web Camera
  • Speakers / Microphone (headset recommended)
  • Printer to print the certificate after successfully completing the course
  • Government-issued, photo ID

Notes

Participants have five attempts to pass the final exam. Please review all course material thoroughly between attempts.
If all attempts are unsuccessful, re-registration into the course is required. Fees will apply.
