IRP 29 Temporary Pipework, Securement and Restraint

January 9, 2024

The IRP 29 defines temporary pipework, provides minimum standards for its selection, implementation and use, and outlines safety measures for its application in the oil and gas industry. Additionally, it provides information about the dynamic forces that can be experienced when there is a piping failure and includes rationale and guidance to manage these risks, including restraints.

The recommendations within this IRP align with current industry practice and standards for temporary pipework while recognizing jurisdictional differences to provide consistent guidance where regulatory requirements may not be specific or may be contradictory across jurisdictions.
