Wood Buffalo Wildlife Intermediate



Wood Buffalo Wildlife Intermediate explores characteristics of wildlife commonly found in the Wood Buffalo region, reporting wildlife interactions, regulatory obligations, carrying deterrents and proficiently utilizing bear spray in simulated wildlife encounters. Using the foundational knowledge of the prerequisite Wood Buffalo Wildlife Awareness course, delve deeper into wildlife features, encounters, reporting and response strategies.




Upon Completion

The online course ends with a proctored exam. Upon achieving a passing grade on the exam with a minimum score of 70%, a Certificate of Completion that is valid for three years will be available to print.

Successful completion of Wood Buffalo Wildlife Awareness

Equipment Requirements for Online Class

  • Currently supported version of your operating System for Windows or Apple
  • Stable internet connection with a supported web browser
  • Web Camera
  • Speakers / Microphone (headset recommended)
  • Printer to print the certificate after successfully completing the course
  • A government-issued, picture ID

Notes

  • Online course participants are given five attempts at the final exam; if a second attempt is required, it is strongly recommended to review all the course material before trying again
  • All registrations are booked through Energy Safety Canada
  • Course can be accessed for 90 days from initial registration
  • Students who do not complete the course cannot be certified and registration fees will not be reimbursed, as per the Cancellation Policy
  • Suncor equivalent training course name - RMWB Wildlife Intermediate
  • Important Update (Effective May 31, 2024)
    All students will now complete an online bear spray practical exercise as part of this course. This will meet the bear spray requirements for Suncor Energy sites
