First Line Supervisor Blowout Prevention Exam Challenge
Effective August 1st, 2022; Students registering for a First Line Supervisor Blowout Prevention Exam Challenge, must hold a current (not expired) certificate. Students will have 90 days from registration to schedule a date and time for the exam.

The First Line Supervisor Blowout Prevention exam can be challenged for two consecutive recertification cycles.
Students opting to challenge the exam must first register with Energy Safety Canada. Once registered, the student is responsible to contact an approved testing facility to schedule a date and time for the exam (Sitting fees may apply). The exam will be conducted on a computer at an Approved Testing Facility through an online proctoring system. The exam will only be accessible once you arrive at the testing facility. Students will have 90 days from registration to schedule a date and time for the exam .
An electronic copy of the self-study manual will be accessible within your First Line exam challenge registration, in your EnergySafetyCanada.com account.
Upon Completion
Upon achieving a passing grade of 70% or higher on the exam, you will receive a self-print First Line Supervisor Blowout Prevention Certificate that is valid for three years.

Prerequisites
To register, participants must hold one of the following certificates:
- A valid First Line Blowout Prevention certificate.
- A valid Second Line Supervisors Well Control certificate
- A valid Supervisor level (IWCF) International Well Control Forum or Supervisor level (IADC)International Association of Drilling Contractors (WellCAP or WellSHARP). In order for students to register with an IADC or IWCF certification, please note:
- Students must have previously completed the First Line Supervisor Blowout Prevention course at some point in the past
- Students must provide a copy of the IWCF/IADC certificate upon registering, for verification

- Blank paper and writing instruments

- There will no longer be a re-write attempt for failed challenge exams.
- If you fail the challenge exam, you will be required to take the full course.
- Students who miss a scheduled appointment for the challenge exam at Energy Safety Canada will not be reimbursed their registration fee per the Cancellation Policy
